Lifestyle Family Photography in Swanley & Bexley: My Story

I don’t usually share personal stories, but I want to tell you how my journey as a Lifestyle Family and Children Photographer in Swanley and Bexley began — and why capturing real, emotional moments means so much to me.

From Hobby to Heart

I’ve always loved photography. I work full-time in IT, a job I love and enjoy. It suits me because it's technical, and I never considered myself a creative person. Photography started as a hobby — something creative I did for myself and to have memories of my trips. I loved photographing sunsets, flowers, Northern Lights and beautiful landscapes. But everything changed when my daughter was born.

As a child, I lost people I loved deeply. Those experiences taught me how precious time is. We often think our loved ones will always be there, but life moves faster than we expect.

Motherhood and Finding Meaning

Becoming a mum during a global pandemic was far from easy. I was away from family and friends, running on little sleep, and caring for a baby who wasn’t well. In those hard moments, I began taking photos of my daughter — her tiny hands, her smiles, and the little everyday moments that made everything worthwhile.

Those photos became my way of holding onto joy. Life is busy — school runs, work, chores — and it’s so easy to forget the beauty of ordinary days. Children grow up quickly, and I wanted to freeze the small, happy moments before they slipped away.

The Power of Photography

Looking back at those photos when things settled a bit, I realised they were more than images — they were memories. Each one held a story: the love, the laughter, and the growth we shared.

I thought about the pictures I still treasure of my grandparents, and the ones my husband keeps of his father. They remind us of who we are and where we come from. That’s when I understood the true gift of photography: it helps us remember not just how things looked, but how they felt.

Discovering Lifestyle Photography

I took photography classes, but I was drawn to natural, candid moments rather than posed ones. The laughter, the cuddles, the messy joy — that’s what spoke to my heart.

That’s how I found lifestyle photography, a relaxed and emotional style that captures real connections. It’s about photographing life as it happens — honest, joyful, and perfectly imperfect.

Now, I help other families tell their own stories. My goal is for parents to see the love and connection in their everyday lives, and for children to one day look back and know how deeply they were loved.

My Belief: Memories Should Be for Everyone

I believe that family photography should be accessible to all families, not a luxury reserved for a few. Every family deserves to have their story captured — the love, laughter, and connection that make them unique. My aim is to offer photography that’s both affordable and meaningful, where quality and emotion always come first. I want families to feel that beautiful memories are within reach, no matter their budget.

Also, I’ve added below a few photos I recently found in my mum’s old box. I don’t remember the giggles, but the prints are proof they happened. And there’s one photo that always makes me laugh — I am a second-born child, after all.
